West Hollywood became one of the first cities in America to ban the sale and use of glue traps for rodent protection. The traps, commonly used throughout the country, were banned because they are found to hurt animals, according to the West Hollywood City Council.

Glue traps are sticky trays that are put out – typically in places to attempt to fight pest infestations, specifically roaches, rats, and mice. But squirrels, small dogs, and other small animals are being caught in them, hence the ban, which took effect in 2023.
