Some of the biggest issues with rodent control have to do with what rats and mice bring along with them – diseases, destruction of property, bites and injuries, as well as spreading fleas and other problematic issues.
One of the best lists of “do’s and don’ts” is compiled regularly by Orkin, which helps companies prevent rodent infestations throughout the country. The list it puts together includes several key aspects of control:
- Keep it clean – make sure that all aspects of a facility or home are clean, reduce aspects of potential hoarding, and keep areas around the home free of debris and potential food sources.
- Sanitation – remove all sanitation properly – ensure that it’s in locked containers and kept far from a building.
- Entry Points – openings around plumbing and utility penetrations, holes in roofs and siding, foundation cracks … all can be an opening for a rodent to enter a home or facility.
- Under Doors – preventing rodents from entering under doorways is critical. Many rodents can enter by chewing through plastic or even poorly cured concrete, but Burrtec’s products can prevent mice and rats.
