It’s that time of the year again! Despite the fact that much of the U.S. has experienced a heat wave at some point in November or December already, the fact is that the cold “bone-chilling” weather is ahead of us in cold weather states.
This means more than cold weather, as rats and mice are now seeking shelter, food sources and water indoors to get through snow and below-freezing temperatures.
Openings in structures can act as open doorways to rats and mice – inviting them into a home or building without anyone knowing it. Small holes around plumbing and utility penetrations are big entry points and need to be filled, either with caulk or by taking the do-it-yourself solution of plugging with steel wool.
Doors are another major issue for protecting from rodents. Because rodents have sharp teeth and can chew through many surfaces include plastic, aluminum, wood, and even poorly cured concrete.
So as it gets colder, door sweeps are necessary for protection because rats can squeeze into a home, restaurant, commercial facility through the smallest hole. Burrtec’s newest product innovation is Ratshut. This features a unique fishbone stainless-steel plate structure and will prevent rats and mice from entering a home or commercial building. The product is also available for garage doors.
